Hunters and gatherers varied in height depending on factors such as genetics, nutrition, and overall health. However, studies of skeletal remains suggest that the average height of adult hunter-gatherers was around 5'5" for males and 5'1" for females. This is slightly shorter than the average height of modern humans, which is around 5'9" for males and 5'4" for females. These differences can be attributed to factors such as diet and lifestyle. **

The choice between a field hunter and a hunter depends on personal preference and the type of riding you enjoy. Field hunters are typically used for fox hunting and are bred for their stamina, agility, and bravery in the field. Hunters, on the other hand, are more commonly used for show jumping and hunter classes, where they are judged on their movement, form, and manners. Ultimately, the decision between a field hunter and a hunter should be based on your riding goals and the type of riding you enjoy. **
